Man and woman arguing

Many Veterans with PTSD complain of finding themselves more irritable with their families when things do not go as expected. They may not feel in control at home or in their daily lives. They may be more impatient when they think others are not doing their job.

A person with PTSD may react in anger in situations that they believe negatively affect their family. These emotions may be difficult to manage and explain within the family setting. A short fuse and readiness to defend or fight rather than back down could result in more angry outbursts towards family members and others.
