Veterans Wellness Path
The Veterans Wellness Path app was created for American Indian and Alaska Native Veterans, their families, and communities. The app supports the transition from military service to home, and encourages balance and connection with self, family, community, and environment.
Features include:
- Daily check-ins
- Tips and exercises to help strengthen relationships with family and friends, or strengthen ties to community and culture
- Tools to heal the body, mind, emotions, and spirit
- Suggestions for navigating health care visits
- Resources, including information on trauma treatment or traditional healing practices
- A multimedia journal for collecting useful information and reflections
- Self-screen for PTSD and well-being
How to Use Veterans Wellness Path
Veterans Wellness Path can be used as a stand-alone education and self-care tool, or as a supplement to professional care.
When you first open the app, you will have the opportunity to personalize your experience by selecting a home screen image. You can update your selection at any time by selecting the menu in the top left corner of the home screen and selecting Path.
Once you reach the home screen, explore features along the path, starting with My Path on the right side of the screen.
Get the most out of Veterans Wellness Path by keeping track of your favorite tools and any reflections or ideas you have while using the app. When you find a particularly helpful tool or reading, tap the page icon to add it to the My Journal section.
NOTE: Veterans Wellness Path is not intended to replace professional care related to mental health conditions, such as PTSD.
Privacy and Security
Any data created by the user of this app are only as secure as the phone/device itself. Use the security features on your device if you are concerned about the privacy of your information. Users are free to share data; as the self-monitoring data belong to each user, HIPAA concerns do not apply while the data are stored or shared. If the user were to transmit or share data with a health care provider, the provider must then comply with the HIPAA rules.
Who created Veterans Wellness Path?
Veterans Wellness Path was made by VA's National Center for PTSD in collaboration with the VHA's Office of Rural Health and the VA South Central Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center. The app was created with input from American Indian and Alaska Native Veterans, their family members, and health care providers.
