Description
Individuals with psychotic-spectrum disorders experience traumatic events and suffer from PTSD at rates that are disproportionately larger than the general population and other clinical populations. However, there are many barriers that obstruct appropriate assessment of trauma exposure and PTSD and that keep clinicians from providing essential and effective treatment of PTSD in those with psychosis.
This PTSD 101 course provides a practical guide for overcoming those barriers. The author presents clinical tips for assessment of PTSD those with co-occurring psychosis. Strategies for collaborative treatment planning are included, as well as guidelines for delivering evidence-based treatments for PTSD with those with co-occurring psychosis.
