Description
Evidence-based psychotherapies (EBPs) for PTSD have been delivered via telemental health (TMH) in VA for over a decade. As a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, TMH is more in demand. This recorded webinar provides a review of research and shared clinical experience of delivering EBPs, including Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) via TMH.
The presenters discuss modifications for providing PTSD therapy via TMH, with additional focus on care recommendations specific to COVID-19 challenges. Topics include tips for provider telework comfort, strategies for creating an effective therapeutic alliance ("netiquette"), setting therapeutic environment expectations, patient safety management, trauma-focused treatment considerations and adaptations, and tools to support patient monitoring and engagement.
