Description
Native Veterans--including Native Americans and Alaska Natives--who have high rates of PTSD, also have the complexity of repeated community losses and traumas. Such historical trauma may impact treatment if not considered in the case formulation. This course provides information about historical trauma for Native American Veterans to support clinicians who seek to offer culturally informed PTSD care.
The course reviews research related to historical trauma, describes how historical trauma may complicate PTSD treatment, and provides culturally informed clinical strategies to address historical and recent trauma among Native Veterans.

- Understand the current research illuminating the complexity of trauma and trauma treatment for Native American Veterans with PTSD
